Weave your way around the park under a cascading archway illuminated by the soft haze of flickering fairy-fire branches. Cozy up under an evergreen canopy drenched in rich seasonal colour as jets of light shoot across the pond and a Victorian carousel spins to the sound of Christmas classics. 4. Golden ticket

Willy Wonka’s whimsical world of the strange, surreal and sublime has been recreated in all its delectable deliciousness by One Aldwych’s very own Loompa legend (or Executive Chef, if you will). The result? The most tempting afternoon tea in Theatreland. Laden with lemon flossed-loveliness, expect piles of scrumptious scones stuffed with cream and ‘snozzberry’ jam, and mountains of macarons that are not quite as they seem… A festive feast of mouth-watering morsels all washed down with a cold glass of (Fizzy Lifting) Champagne, this enchanting immersive dining experience is a pure indulgence of pure imagination. Roald Dahl would approve.

5. The elixir of yule

Who says you need £100* to add some gold to your glass? Popaball’s range of iridescent shimmers, bursting bubbles and lustrous liquors will pimp that prosecco or glam up your gin for a fraction of the price of a George VI. They even do glitter jams...now that’s what we call a toast!

From £3.99, Popaball

*Although if you have it, the diamond-infused decadence of the city’s most opulent Christmassy cocktail is ready for decoding at The Bletchley.
